On December 1, 2001 Gene Byrd hit a tree on short final to his
home airport I have bought his wings along with many other parts
from him.
These pictures show the bottom surface of the wing and aileron and some of the
damage

surface
Top surface. The gouge goes to the spar but the spar showed no signs of damage. The
picture on the right shows a smooth surface with no wrinkleing or even paint chipping
between the spars. The wing tanks still contained fuel when the wings were recovered from
the crash site. These are Deihl wing skins.
