May 17, 2004. Jack Cooper (Left) Mike Hyers (right) and four Corvair core engines that I just
bought in virginia. Mike drove me to Virginia pulling his trailer to pick up the engines. Thanks Mike
for being such a great friend.
I plan to use a 110 HP Corvair engine to power my KR-2. If you are wondering why a Corvair see
William Wynne's Corvair page at http://www.flycorvair.com/ My engine is from a 1966 Corvair and I
bought it for $100. Of course it will be completly overhauled and modified for aircraft use. I still have a
lot of building to do before I'll be ready for an engine, but when I located this one I jumped at the
opportunity to buy it. Other than pressure washing, removing some of the sheetmetal and confirming the
correct crankshaft, I have done nothing else to the engine. I will post moe pictures as work progresses.

As you can see the engine had it's fair share of grease, grit, grime, birds nest, rats nest, and
wasp nest, so I gave it a good pressure washing to claen it. After washing, I removed the
plugs and squirted some oil into the cylenders and turned the crank several revolutions and
replaced the plugs. I don't intend to work on it until I get nearer to completing the KR.
Isn't it beautiful?
