I flew helicopters in the Army and always liked the feel of the stick grip. Upon retirement my platoon
gave me a plaque with a brass stick grip on it. This was used for a pattern to make my stick grip.
Aruond this grip you can see many switches, I used only three in my stick. The trigger switch on the
forward upper side of the grip is a two detent switch. On the Huey it is used for 1st detent  intercon.
2nd detent transmitt (PPT). On the Cobra the same switch is used to fire the turret weapons.
I glued up a stack of Walnut boards
using weldwood glue for faster setting.
I then bandsawed the general shape of
rhe grip.
I then used an inflatable drum sander in the Shopsmith to round the edges and contour the grip. I then
drilled the end using a forsner bit, not the spade bit you see in the picture. I used my Shopsmith in the
horizontal drilling mode to drill. I also used a scrap piece of 2X4 and some piano hinge wire to make a
gage to check  the depth of my hole how close I was getting to the edged of the grip.
I bought some normaly open switches from Radio Shack The 2 black switches are for trim and
operated by the thumb. On the top of the grip is an LRB which will be used for a PPT switch.
Every airplane needs a LRB... Little red button.
