In inspecting this wing prior to repair I found that the skin had seperated from the spar. I placed
shims inbetween to open the gap, sanded and refloxed. At right weights held the skin in contact
with the spar until the flox cured.
The aileron with the hinge spar removed and some fiberglass repairs done. At right the
Shopsmith is set for cutting a new aileron hinge spar.
1/4 inch Clark foam glassed on both sides was floxed into place under the skin. On left you can
see some clark foam on the spar to give something for the layer of skin to flox to. Ribs were
also floxed in place here.
Next,  in blue styrofoam
was glued in place using
two part foam as an
adhesive. On the right,
the automutive bondo
file makes quick work of
the rough sanding. The
angle aluminun had
sandpaper on it and was
used for finish sanding.
More styrofoam to fill in between and two layers of
fiberglass
On the leading edge thin
aluminun was used inside
the skin to hold the foam in
place. 2 inch styrofoam
was then sanded with the
PVC pipe with sandpaper
attached. It was attached
with two part foam and
weighted down to cure.
