I carefully measured the tank and located the spars then used a hole saw to cut into the tank. I
saved the plug that I cut out to replace into the hole later. The edges have been microed using
vinylester resin.
The float was attached to a piece of Clark
foam glassed on both sides then floxed to
the foreward wall of the tank. The wires
were run along the top of the tank to the
inboard end of the tank. Upper right is a
baffel.
This was made for closing the tank. On the right
is the original plug. The wires were attached
using 5 min epoxy. I later found this was not
strong enough to hold the fillers in place
The first filler half floxed and clamped.
The wire was not strong enough so I floxes a
nut plate into the second filler half.
Second filler half floxed and clamped into place
This is the wires where they exit the
tank
Not shown, the wing was stood on end
and a generous amount of vinylester
resin micro was filled in around the
hole where the wires exited the tank.
One tank done, one more to go.
Tank is closed and ready for sanding.
