Today was a good day for working on
the KR. I had some friends come over
to help me with the wings. The wings
were originally on Gene Byrds KR-2S
but after his crash on December 1st,
2001, I bought the wings and many
other parts from him to use on my KR.
The wings have been repaired and
Genes Front center spar installed.
Genes rear center spar was damaged
so I built a new rear center spar and
had it in place but not secured. Todays
job was to attach the wings to the front
spar and set the rear spar and secure it
and drill the rear spar for the WAFs.
Above: This is a fixture I built prior to
removing the WAFs from Genes
damaged spar. I then used it for
locating where the WAFs should be
placed on the new spar.
Left: This Turtle deck is also from
Genes KR-2S. If anyone has any
ideals on how to make it fit a KR-2
please let me know.
The stabilizer and elevator are built
with the templates I got from TET. This
is the third and final (I hope)
modification to it. I first built with no
balance horns but later decided to add
them. The first balance horn went to
the leading edge of the stabilizer but I
didnt like the looks of it so I modified it
again. I like the way it looks and feels
now.
